Primary Programs and Services

Summer Sessions – Offering opportunities to learn techniques that were used centuries ago by great artisans. Students will focus on creative and sustainable projects that utilize the natural beauty of our environment and learn techniques used by professional artist today. Full day sessions also include a daily hike, nature study and cooking as part of the regular curriculum.

After-School Sessions – geared towards mindful and creative projects related to the seasons; groups are broken down by age and skill level but focus primarily on ages 5-14.

Kindred Creative Empowerment – A new session designed for girls ages 10 – 18 that helps to boost confidence and empower pre-teens and teens through creativity, conversations and a combination of staff and student support. Sessions will focus on in-depth multi week projects as individuals and as a group. Students who have completed 12 sessions have priority to become mentors/interns within Kindred programs and community events.

Parent/Child Exploration – A special session for children ages 2 – 5 and parents. Child and Parent Exploration will focus on experiencing new ways to see, explore and create in the world together.

Kindred Soul Art – Kindred Soul Art (KSA) offers a variety of classes for artist at any level of experience ages 16  and up. KSA Focused sessions for all the grownups who want to experience a little Kindred magic with visiting artist from the Truckee/Tahoe Region and beyond, all in a fun and relaxing environment with friends old and new.

Creative Empowerment Retreat – sleepaway camp for girls ages 10 – 18). 3 days two nights at Lost Trails Lodge: Designed for girls ages 10 – 18 that helps to boost confidence and empower pre-teens and teens through creativity, conversations and a combination of staff and student support. Projects will include an outdoor art installation, individual creative projects, daily music and scared circle and more.

Kindred Mentor/Intern Program
Designed for student’s ages 11 – 17 this program gives the opportunity for more in-depth knowledge of projects and community service. Student mentors/interns will act as studio helpers during studio sessions and ambassadors during community events such as Inspired Adventure Spring Festival, Truckee Thursdays, Inspired Adventure Thursdays, Art installations for the Shane McConkey Foundation Eco Challenge, Guitarfish Music Festival, Community Days and Downtown Truckee Art & Soul Artwalk. Interested participants must submit an essay about why they would like to become a mentor at Kindred and examples of artwork. Mentors will be selected by interview process. Mentors receive a 30% discount on all Kindred Sessions. * Mentors must be able to commit to one regular day a week.Please submit to Nicole Ashton Martin via email at nmartin@kindredtruckee.org.
